Surgery / Quack Medicine / General Medicine

An extremely rare artificial bladder used to learn to work with the new cystoscope invented by Nize.

A trocar used in human medicine and a (wooden) second one used for veterinary purposes. In the background two syringes made from gutta percha and used to suck liquids from wounds (round 1865).

Some models of fleams build between 1820 and 1900. The mechanical bleeders were used in human medicine. Already in Ambroise Paré´s time, in the 16th century, we can find such instruments bearing hidden lancets with powerful springs triggered by a button.
